Premature ejaculation is one of the most frequent dysfunctions or perhaps the most frequent one in our environment, because it is estimated that over 40% of men under 50 suffer from it, according to statistics from the most outstanding sexologists in the world. This sexual disorder consists in the difficulty experienced by men to control ejaculation during intercourse.
Until the sixties, men didn’t worry about ejaculatory control either because of ignorance of the normal sexual response or because his partner didn’t request it. At that time, sexuality was known almost exclusively for reproductive purposes and women only thought of it as another task to be carried out in the marriage. As time went by, knowledge advanced and changed and sexuality began to be considered an activity not only for reproduction but also for pleasure.
There are men that suffer from PE with some women and not with others. This fact reveals us the important part that the psychological factor plays - in many cases - in this dysfunction.
It is frequently believed that having a lot of sexual activity will solve the PE problem but it is actually the opposite. The passing of time with this dysfunction eventually destroys the couple.
Premature ejaculation can have very negative effects on sexual performance, both of men and the couple.
Men’s lax in looking for a definite solution to this problem is a conduct that should de reverted. Solutions for premature ejaculation are simple to apply provided that the person does not exclusively rely on over-the-counter medicines because these have side effects and the results obtained are, in any case, temporary.
In order to present a solution, first we need to go over some concepts so as to build an idea that is useful to understand the problem and subsequently identify the true solution.
Following the premise that the best method to solve this problem is through science and that premature ejaculators experience a perceptive deficit, we consider that the most effective treatments until this day are those which use methods of reeducation and rehabilitation of the muscles intervening in the process of ejaculation control.
These procedures have been successful in 95% of the cases; the therapies took from 1 to 3 months, depending on the level of the PE.
This study includes patients suffering from PE who came for consultation during 2006 and 2007, a total of 356patients between 18 and 60 years old. The study included all those patients who were suffering from PE. All the patients were heterosexual, involved in long term or casual relationships, all of them with sexual activity of a minimum of six months a year. The patients were evaluated every two weeks based on the subjectivity of their answers. They were subjected to questionings before, during and after treatment with the program of exercises.
The goal of intercourse is for both men and women to get pleasure, to have an orgasm and to be satisfied. Regardless of the amount of time the man takes to ejaculate, he is supposed to do it at the same time the woman has an orgasm or right after that.
Premature ejaculation has different names, that is rapid ejaculation, early ejaculation or just premature ejaculation and it is the lack of control over ejaculation during intercourse. The causes can be organic and psychological. The latter are the most common and derive from a low perception or perception deficit of sexual sensations with a very low self-esteem. In turn, they are the result of a mistaken learning of sexual activity during puberty or adolescence and the organic and physical causes existing on neurological alterations, degenerative disorders, urogenital conditions, hormonal imbalances and all those conditions altering the ejaculation reflex mechanism. Within the most common organic causes we can find glans hypersensitivity, which appears in most premature ejaculators.
The ejaculation control can be learnt in the course of sex life with a program of exercises that are totally natural, designed and evaluated over time. This is implemented through a regulated methodology in order to achieve a reeducation and voluntary control of the muscles involved in the ejaculation process. This can be accomplished by working on these muscles to ejaculate whenever you want to.
The woman whose partner is someone who cannot control PE is significantly affected to the extent that her sexual desire decreases. This is a consequence of numerous occasions in which she is excited and cannot reach the climax and have an orgasm. Because of this they usually prefer avoiding sexual relations. They do not want to be left unsatisfied or experience those bad times before and after intercourse again and again. So the woman’s libido or sexual appetite decreases and she starts making up excuses such as “I’m having my period”, “I’m tired”, “I have a headache”, “the kids are not asleep”, etc. This worsens the problem because it increases the man’s anguish and anxiety towards the next sexual encounter.
Another common situation is when she complains about not being touched by the man, about the lack of foreplay or caresses for her to get excited and reach climax, in other words, that the man penetrates her way too soon. If the man gets into foreplay or caresses for too long, there is a 99.99% chance he will ejaculate even before penetration. This is why he prefers penetrating her quickly because he believes that the premature or early ejaculation problem would worsen if he acted otherwise.
In some men, this premature ejaculation problem goes beyond the mere sexual area and makes them shy, reserved, insecure and leads them to avoiding new relationships not to revive what has happened with the previous partner. This reduces his ability to focus on other activities, continuously pointing his thoughts towards this problem. This is all the result of not knowing and facing the solution. Awareness and realization sometimes comes from the woman, who gives him some kind of ultimatum to go to see a specialist in order to solve this problem that actually affects them both.
The anguish and despair make men with PE experience turn to easy methods and tactics that do not work and waste their time while raising false expectations. In this sense, men look for a fast, effortless solution so they tend to surf the Web looking for the easiest, fastest and above all cheapest remedy, either creams or pills so they can immediately apply them and get instantaneously cured. The use of over-the-counter creams or gels, which are anesthetics and applied directly on the penis, is very common among men suffering from PE. These kinds of products anesthetize the glans temporarily, decreasing excitability. However, this has not only a merely temporary effect but it also has side effects on the woman, anesthetizing her vagina and, therefore, decreasing her excitability, which delays her orgasm and generates dissatisfaction on her, complicating even more the situation of the couple. The use of single or double condoms in order to control ejaculation is also very common among men involved in long term relationships.
All in all, household remedies are a waste of time and proven to be ineffective to control PE.
The anguish caused to men by PE can be compared with the obsession of some men with the size of their penises. This anguish is usually increased by the continuous failure of the different treatments, he is subjected to, without obtaining satisfactory results.
Considering that the main characteristic of this dysfunction is the lack of control over the ejaculation reflex, it is natural to think that the correction of this problem can be achieved only and exclusively, as it has been widely proven – through learning and reeducation based on the regular practice of exercises to rehabilitate the muscles involved in the process of controlling the ejaculation reflex.
Base on these facts and using our experience, we designed a schedule of exercises to be executed by the patients, including the subsequent evaluation of the results.
The patients who came for consultation were between 18 and 60 years old, being most of them between 25 and 30 years old.
The number of patients that came for consultation for the first time and those who visited other therapists without obtaining satisfactory results are detailed in this chart.
The status of the patients regarding their sexual partner and the percentage of consultants is detailed in the following chart.
Most patients who came for consultation because of this condition did not present further pathologies at the time of the consultation.
This chart shows the unsatisfactory results obtained by patients with PE from the treatments received, including therapies with exercises. The chart shows the little amount of failures of PE treatments based on positional exercises and muscle reeducation.
This chart shows the time taken to satisfactory complete the treatments.
All types of patients suffering this kind of condition who came for consultation during 2006 and 2007 were considered
It has been evidenced during the course of the consultation that most of the causes of this problem are psychological and learning related and that the most common symptom is anxiety.
By means of the study conducted, the treatment of PE with muscle rehabilitation exercises and reeducation of the PC and postural muscles has been proven to be the most effective.
It has also been evidenced with the consultations that the treatments received before did not meet the expectations of the patients.
The study also proved that this dysfunction is gaining importance these days since sexual act began to be considered as an activity intended for the pleasure of a couple.
